Emergency Battery (Telematics) A16, Switching On/off

In order to avoid unnecessary discharge of the emergency (back-up) battery, it must always be switched off prior to disconnecting the vehicle battery, and switched back on after the vehicle battery is reconnected.

Should the existing Telephone/Telematics Control Module J526 be removed and reinstalled, the emergency (back-up battery) must be switched off prior to removal, and switched on after reinstallation.

Should the Telephone/Telematics Control Module J526 be replaced and configured, the emergency (back-up battery) must be switched off prior to removal, replaced, and switched on after control module installation and coding.

Preparation:
- Connect and use VAS 5051/5052 in mode "Guided Fault Finding"
- Enter appropriate model, equipment and model year information and press ">" to confirm.

After all control modules have been registered and DTC memories checked:
- Press "Go to"
- Select: "Function/Component Selection"
- Select: "Body"
- Select: "Electrical equipment"
- Select: "01 - On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capable systems"
- Select: "75- Telematics USA"
- Select: "Functions - Telematic"
- Select: "J526 - Telephone/Telematic Ctrl. Module, service mode disco, battery "
- If necessary, press ">" to advance

Switching off:
- Select/press button "3 - Service mode activating (no load on emergency battery)"
- Follow the testers prompts.

Switching on:
- Select/press button "1 - Service mode deactivating (normal operating condition)"
- Follow the testers prompts.
