Hydraulic Clutch System, Bleeding



Hydraulic clutch system, bleeding - 6 Spd. Manual Transmission 0A3 All Wheel Drive

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required





^ Brake filling and bleeding equipment VAS 5234 or brake filling and bleeding equipment VAG 1869
^ Brake fluid specification.

Procedure

Note:
^ Open the bleeder valve before switching on the bleeding appliance.
^ When performing the following steps, make sure that no brake fluid escapes onto the transmission.
^ The clutch system must be bled after performing work on the hydraulic clutch mechanism.
^ Before bleeding the clutch system, pull back the clutch pedal to the normal position and top off brake fluid to "Max" marking on brake fluid reservoir.
^ The clutch system should be bled at the same intervals as the brake system.

- Connect brake charge and bleed equipment VAG 1869 or VAS 5234, but do not switch on at this stage.





- If installed, remove rear part of noise insulation - 2 to 3 -.





- If installed, remove noise insulation cover - arrows - in wheel housing (left-side).





- Remove heat shield - arrows - for driveshaft (left-side).





- Connect bleeder hose - A - to slave cylinder - arrow - and open bleeder valve.
- Connect bleeder hose to pressure hose of fluid collector bottle.
- Switch on bleeder appliance and allow about 100CM3 of brake fluid to drain out.

^ Operating pressure 2.5 bar

Note:
^ Ensure bleeder hose is correctly installed during bleeding operation.

- Close bleeder valve and tighten to 4.5 Nm.
- Depress clutch pedal several times after bleeding process is completed.
- Repeat bleeding procedure if necessary.
- Bolt heat shield for drive shaft onto transmission.

Tightening torque
