Transmission Temperature Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair
Sensor for transmission RPM / Transmission fluid temperature sensor -G182- / -G93-, removing and installing, 02E, 6 Speed Direct Shift A/T, AWD
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
^ Drip tray V.A.G 1306
^ Torque wrench V.A.G 1331
^ Safety goggles
^ Engine not running.
CAUTION! Do not run the engine or tow the vehicle with the oil pan removed or when there is no gear oil in the transmission.
Note:
^ Read rules for cleanliness when working on the automatic transmissions.
^ General repair instructions.
^ Lightly lubricate O-rings and seals with gear oil. Other types of lubricant will cause the transmission hydraulics to malfunction.
Removing
CAUTION! Follow steps required when disconnecting battery.
Note: The battery is located in the rear compartment, in the spare wheel well.
- Disconnect ground strap on battery (in rear compartment) with ignition switched off.
- Remove oil pan.
- Remove Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) Mechatronic -J743-.
- Unscrew bolt - B -.
- Remove sensors - A - from transmission together with wire.
Installing
Installation is performed in reverse sequence. Note the following:
- Lubricate sensors - A - with gear oil and insert into opening on side of transmission.
- Tighten new bolt (M6) - B - to 10 Nm.
- Install mechatronic - C -.
Note: When installing the Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) Mechatronic -J743-, the wire for connector - A - must not become trapped or pinched. If the wire is damaged, the Sensor for transmission RPM / Transmission fluid temperature sensor -G93- / -G182- will have to be replaced.
- Secure wire to retainers - arrows -.
- Plug in connector - A -.
- Install oil pan.
- Connect battery.
- Follow steps required after connecting battery.
- Fill with gear oil.
- Perform basic setting using vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051.
