Fuel Pump Delivery Quantity, Checking

Special tools and equipment







- VAG1348/3A with VAG1348/3-2 Adapter







- VAG1318/17 Adapter
- Measuring container safe for fuel

Requirements
- Battery voltage at least 12.7 V
- Fuel filter OK
- Switch ignition off

Work sequence
- Open cover of fuse box at left side of instrument panel.
- Remove fuse -S228- at fuse carrier (position 28, left row, 5th large fuse from top).







- Connect VAG1348/3A remote control connection using adapter cables from VAG1348/3-2 at right terminal of socket from fuse - S228- (arrow).
- Connect clamping terminal to Battery +.
- Remove fuel filler cap from fuel filler unit.







- Remove screw -1- and remove coolant expansion tank cover (arrow).

WARNING: Fuel supply lines are under pressure. Before removing from hose connection wrap a cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully pulling hose off connection.







- Disconnect fuel return line -1- from line tube -2- (press release button).
- Connect VAG1318/17 adapter to fuel return line from engine and hold in a measuring container.
- Operate remote control for 15 seconds (keep button pressed).







- Compare fuel quantity pumped with specified value.

**) Voltage at fuel pump with engine off and pump running (approx. 2 volts less than battery voltage).
