Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 60 number 06-15 dated December 6, 2006 for reasons listed below.

60 Wind and/or buzzing noise in sliding roof

Condition

Wind noise can be heard in the roof area with the roof panel closed, usually at 60 mph or higher. This symptom may also be accompanied by a buzzing or vibration sound in the roof area at this speed.

Technical Background

The tilting glass roof panel may be out of adjustment. This panel may be set at the same height as the adjoining panels to the front and rear of the tilting glass roof panel. Additionally, the tilting glass roof panel may be too far forward or backward, not centered in its opening. This position may cause wind noise and possibly a vibrating or buzzing noise to be heard in the cabin from an aerodynamically disadvantageous panel angle and/or a poor seal-to-roof panel contact.

Production Solution

Aerodynamically optimized sliding roof panel adjustment.

Service

Figure 1:

If the vehicle exhibits any of the symptoms above, check the tilting glass roof panel, and adjust the panel if necessary, as specified in ElsaWeb>>Body>>Body Exterior>>Sliding roof>>Sunroof>>Glass sunroof panel, adjusting.

Also make certain that the tilting glass roof panel is centered in its opening when closed.

Tip: It is imperative that a thorough test drive be performed with each customer. Preferably, test drives should be performed with each customer both before and after any adjustments are made.
