Oil Cooler: Service and Repair
Oil Cooler
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Drip Tray (VAS 6208)
• Hose Clip Pliers (VAS 5024 A)
Removing
Cover cap of expansion tank with a rag and open carefully, as hot steam for example hot coolant may escape when opened.
- Open cap of coolant expansion tank.
- Remove the engine cover and air filter.
- Remove noise insulation.
- Drain the coolant. Refer to => [ Cooling System, Draining and Filling ] Procedures.
- Remove the intake manifold and fuel rail.
- Remove bracket for cable connector - arrows - from coolant pipe.
- Disconnect coolant hose - 1 -.
- Remove the bolt - 2 -.
- Disconnect coolant hoses - arrows - from coolant pipe.
- Remove bolt - 1 - and remove coolant pipe.
- Remove the oil cooler - arrows -.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
• For the correct tightening specifications, refer to => [ Oil Filter Bracket Overview ] Oil Filter Bracket Overview
• Always replace gaskets and seals.
• Secure all hose connections using hose clamps appropriate for the model, refer to the electronic parts catalog ETKA.
- Fill with coolant. Refer to => [ Cooling System, Draining and Filling ] Procedures.
