MIL on - TCM and ABS speed sensor
MIL on; no DTC reported in generic scan tool (GST).
Readouts can only be obtained by an enhanced GST. An enhanced GST will report:
^ TCM: DTC P1847 (Please check DTC memory of Brake System ECU)
^ ECM: DTC P1624 (Requirement - fault lamp on active)
Technical Background
A software error causes the Mechatronics Unit to transmit a "MIL on" request to the ECM. The faults are evident when the vehicle is driven on a dynamometer or when there is an actual speed sensor failure. The wheel sensors should not illuminate the MIL.
Production Solution
Improved software.
Service
^ Do not replace the TCM or ECM unit if you are using a generic scan tool and there aren't any DTCs in the TCM or ECM for the MIL on and ABS warning light on condition.
^ Please check the DTC memory of the brake system ECU for speed sensor faults.
