Stabilizer Bar, Cabriolet

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench 5-50 Nm (V.A.G 1331)

Removing

- Remove the left rear wheel.

- Remove left wheel bearing housing. Refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing ] Wheel Bearing Housing.

The following work steps are described for the left side of the vehicle. These work steps also apply simultaneously for right side of vehicle.

- Remove the nut - 1 - and pull coupling rod - 2 - out of stabilizer.






Do not loosen bolt - arrow - on tie rod - 3 - on right side of vehicle.

- Remove bolts - arrows - for stabilizer clamp.






- Guide the stabilizer bar out of the subframe toward the left.

Be careful not to damage the surface on the subframe and stabilizer bar when removing the stabilizer bar. Correct any possible paint damage.

Installing

Installation is the reverse of removal, with special attention to the following:

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Subframe, Diagonal Brace, Lower Transverse Link, Upper Transverse Link, Tie Rod and Level Control System Overview ] Subframe, Diagonal Brace, Lower Transverse Link, Upper Transverse Link, Tie Rod and Level Control System Overview.

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing, Wheel Bearing Unit, Trailing Arm with Mounting Bracket and Stone Deflector Overview ] Wheel Bearing Housing, Wheel Bearing Unit, Trailing Arm With Mounting Bracket and Stone Deflector Overview.

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Shock Absorber and Coil Spring Overview ] Shock Absorber and Coil Spring Overview.

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Stabilizer Bar Overview ] Stabilizer Bar Overview.

- Axle alignment is required, see Table => [ An axle alignment is necessary when: ] Wheel Alignment.

When threading in stabilizer bar, ensure subframe surface is not damaged. Correct any possible paint damage.
