• Mandrel (T10060 A)
Observe notes on contact corrosion. Refer to => [ Contact Corrosion ] Contact Corrosion.
Removing
- With ignition switched off, disconnect battery ground wire. Refer to => [ Battery in Engine Compartment, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery In Engine Compartment, Disconnecting and Connecting.
- Disconnect the mass airflow sensor (G70) connector - item 1 -.
- Remove engine cover - arrows -.
- If equipped, remove the EVAP canister, with the lines still connected, upward and out of its mount - arrow - and lay it to the side.
Risk of destroying if the running direction of a used ribbed belt is reversed.
• Before removing ribbed belt, marking running direction with chalk or a felt-tip pen for reinstallation.
- Swivel ribbed belt tensioner in - direction of arrow - to tension ribbed belt.
- Secure the ribbed belt tensioner with the Locking Pin (T10060 A).
- Remove ribbed belt.
- Remove ribbed belt tensioner - arrows -.
- Remove the bolts - arrows - and remove the generator on the accessories bracket.
• If alternator sticks in holder, turn bolt back in again down to the last 2 turns.
• Tap carefully on screw heads with flat side of hammer to release alternator mount bushings.
- Tip generator with electrical wires connected to right side of vehicle.
- Disconnect electrical connector - 2 -.
- Disconnect the electric wire - 1 - and clamp - 3 - on the generator.
- Remove generator upward.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
- Slightly drive back sleeves for retaining bolts in order for easier installation of generator.
• Tight sleeves for generator mount must be made smooth-running, otherwise clamping force of sleeve is too little despite correct torque.
- Route the ribbed belt on belt pulleys for the crankshaft and A/C compressor.
- Route the ribbed belts on the generator belt pulley, release the tension on the tensioner.
• Ribbed belt routing on vehicles with A/C.
- Check ribbed belt for correct seating.
- Connect battery. Required actions => Battery In Engine Compartment, Disconnecting and Connecting.
- Start engine and check belt routing.
