Vehicle Information

Radio reception and playback problems

Condition

The customer may report constant sound interference in the radio. The sound may be distorted, or a humming or hissing noise may be audible in all speakers.

Technical Background

If the reception level is good, the problem may be caused by aftermarket equipment that is plugged into the cigarette lighter or one of the power outlets. Insufficient radio interference suppression of rechargers and power supply units of mobile telephones, navigation systems and other electronic devices may cause voltage interference in the on-board network.

Production Solution

Not applicable.

Service

1. Verify if aftermarket devices were installed in the vehicle.

2. Disconnect the aftermarket devices, if applicable.

3. Inform the customer if the interference disappears after removal of a plugged-in aftermarket device.

Warranty
