Body - Rattling Noise From The Sunroof Area

60 Rattle noise from roof area with roof panel closed





Condition





Customer hears rattling noise from the sliding roof area.

Technical Background

While driving with the sliding roof panel closed, the wind deflector may vibrate against the sunroof frame.

Production Solution

Continuous improvement at the supplier.

Service

1. Stick a self-adhesive foam strip (701 867 225 D) in the middle area of the sunroof frame.

2. Open sunroof cover. Inside the deflector on the center of the sunroof frame are two raised dimples (Figure 1).

3. Apply the foam strip such that the area indicated in the yellow rectangle (Figure 2) is covered.

The approximate length of the foam strip will be 7 cm long.

4. Thoroughly test drive the vehicle with the customer to ensure the noise concern is addressed to their satisfaction.
