90 Oil level warning stays on after oil replenished90 10 07
2012153/5
June 7, 2010
Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 90 number 08-09 dated November 5, 2008 for reasons listed below.
Affected Vehicles
Condition
^ Oil level warning remains on after oil is replenished.
^ The original oil level warning came on due to an actual low oil level condition during operation.
This TSB is valid only when the above conditions are applicable. If the oil warning comes on without a low oil level condition, the service solution below will not be helpful. Use Guided Fault Finding to diagnose the condition.
Technical Background
If the ignition is switched off the entire time the hood is opened, the opening of the hood and the topping off of the oil is not registered. As a result, it takes a long time for the system to determine the new oil level, approximately 60 driven miles. During this period, the oil warning light stays on.
Production Solution
New software in the Instrument Cluster (J285) resolved the problem.
