Crankshaft Position Timing Ring: Service and Repair






Sensor Wheel

- Always replace sensor wheel - 2 - whenever bolts are removed - 1 -.





After tightening a second time, the attachment point of the countersunk screws of the sensor wheel are so deformed that the screw heads lie on the crankshaft - 3 - - arrows - and the sensor wheel is loose underneath the screws.

Installation of the sensor wheel is only possible in one position, the bore holes are shifted.

Tightening Specifications





* Replace bolts.

* 90° corresponds to one quarter rotation.

Allocation of crankshaft bearing shells for cylinder block





The cylinder block is allocated with bearing shells of the correct thickness in the factory. Colored spots serve to identify the bearing thicknesses.

- Arrow - points in direction of travel.

The letters marked on the lower sealing surface of the cylinder block identify which bearing shell must be installed in which location.





The letter are visible on the installed oil pan.

The crankshaft bearing shells in the bearing caps are only available as a replacement part with a "yellow" color marking.

Centering bushing for torque converter





Partial and replacement engines, new as well as replacement crankshafts are delivered without bushing - arrow -. Therefore, before installing drive plate in a vehicle with automatic transmission 01V, bushing must be driven in. Do not insert a bushing in vehicles with a manual transmission.
