misses the transmission RPM

Checked by On-Board Diagnostics (OBD)

12 Transmission Range (TR) Display (Y6)

A fully illuminated gear selection indicator indicates a simple malfunction

A blinking gear selection indicator indicates a critical malfunction

No indication on display points to a fault in wiring or a faulty Transmission Range (TR) Display (Y6)

13 Kick Down Switch (F8)

Not a separate component, the accelerator pedal position sensors in the accelerator pedal module assume the function

14 Brake Light Switch (F)

Signal received in Engine Control Module (ECM), signal transferred from ECM to Transmission Control Module (TCM) via CAN-Bus

15 Cruise Control Switch (E45)

Data Link Connector (DLC)

Location: The Data Link Connector (DLC) is located under the dash panel on the driver side.

Shift Lock Solenoid (N110 )

Location: Shift Lock Solenoid is located in the shift mechanism - arrow -.

Valve Body

Location: Valve body is bolted to underside of transmission housing and is covered by transmission oil pan.

The solenoid valves (N88), (N89), (N90) and the pressure control valves 1 ( (N215)), 2 ( (N216)), 3 ( (N217)) and 4 ( (N218)) are attached to the valve body.

Wiring Harness in the Transmission with an Integrated Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor (G93)

Location: the wiring harness is attached to the valve body.

Multi-Function Transmission Range Switch (F125)

Location: the Multi-Function Transmission Range Switch (F125) is located on the left side of the transmission, multi-function switch connector - arrow -.

The multi-function switch is also called the driving range sensor.

Tiptronic Switch (F189)

Location: the Tiptronic switch is integrated in the printed circuit in the symbol panel, which is located in the shift mechanism cover.

Tiptronic Switch (F189) consists of 3 hall sensors (- A -, - B -, - C -) which are activated by magnets on the cross slide masking panel.

A Tip-down sensor
B Sensor for Tiptronic recognition
C Tip-up sensor

If malfunctioning, start by checking whether solenoid - C - is fixed correctly to cross slide masking panel, replace masking panel if necessary. Symbol insert with integrated circuit board must only be replaced after wiring is checked. For vehicles with multi-function steering wheel, also buttons on steering wheel and corresponding wire connections must be checked.

Ignore - A and B -.

Starter Interlock Alarm System Relay (J60)

Location: On relay carrier in E-box, plenum chamber.

4 Starter Interlock Alarm System Relay (J60)

Check the Starter Interlock Alarm System Relay ( J60). Refer to => [ Starter Interlock Alarm System Relay, Checking ] Starter Interlock Alarm System Relay, Checking.

Transmission Input Speed (RPM) Sensor (G182)

Location: the sensor - A - is a Hall sensor and is attached to the transmission housing behind the valve body.

For removing and installing, refer to => Automatic Transmission/Transaxle Automatic Transmission/Transaxle

Disregard item - B -.

Transmission Output Speed (RPM) Sensor (G195)

Location: Transmission vehicle speed sensor is located in right rear of transmission.

For removing and installing, refer to => Automatic Transmission/Transaxle Automatic Transmission/Transaxle

Transmission Range (TR) Display (Y6)

Location: Integrated into instrument cluster

The instrument cluster must be replaced if the transmission range display is faulty.

Kick Down Switch (F8)

Location:

A specific value from the Throttle Position Sensor ( G79) and the Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor 2 (G185) is stored in the engine control module on gasoline vehicles. Both sensors are part of the accelerator pedal module - arrow -.

Signal received in Engine Control Module (ECM), signal transferred from ECM to Transmission Control Module (TCM) via CAN-Bus.

If the accelerator pedal sensor is faulty, then replace the accelerator pedal module.
