Final Drive Cover O-Ring Seal

Final Drive Cover O-Ring Seal

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Drip tray (VAG1306)

Removing

- Loosen bolt drive axle/wheel hub while the vehicle is still standing on its wheels.





- Remove right wheel.

- Remove heat shield for right drive axle.

- Remove right drive axle.

- Remove right front exhaust pipe.

- Remove right transmission support => [ Transmission Mounts ] 01VA Transmission.

- Remove bolt for flange shaft (arrow) while securing against turning using a drift.





- Place drip tray (VAG1306) underneath.

- Remove right drive flange.

- Remove bolts for final drive cover opposite of shown tightening sequence and remove cover.





Installing

- Replace sealing ring (arrow).





- Install cover for final drive.





Tightening sequence:

• 1. Stage: Tighten bolts - 1 - to - 3 - by hand

• 2. Stage: Tighten bolts - 1 - to - 12 - in specified sequence to tightening torque

- Install right drive flange. Refer to => [ Right Drive Flange Seal ] Right Drive Flange Seal.

- Install transmission support. Refer to => [ Transmission Mounts ] 01VA Transmission.

- Install right front exhaust pipe.

- Install drive axle.

- Top-up and check gear oil in front final drive. Refer to => [ Front Final Drive Gear Oil, Checking ] .
