High and Low Pressure Testing

High and low pressure testing

Before starting:
Make sure that the brake system (master cylinder, brake hoses, brake lines and brake calipers) is free of leaks.

High-pressure test:





- Remove bleeder screw at one of the front brake calipers. Connect brake pressure gauge 0-250 bar V.A.G 1310A and bleed tester.
- Start engine.
- Insert brake pedal depressor between brake pedal and drivers seat. Apply pressure to brake pedal until the gauge indicates a pressure of 50 bar.
- Switch off engine.
- The pressure must not drop by more than 4 bar during the test period of 45 seconds.

If pressure drops by more than 4 bar, inspect brake system for leaks and repair as required.

Low-pressure testing:

Note:
^ Only perform low-pressure test if result of high-pressure test is OK.

- Adjust brake pedal loading device so that pressure gauge reads 6 bar positive pressure.
- The pressure must not drop by more than 1 bar during test period of 3 minutes.

If drop in pressure exceeds specification: replace ABS hydraulic unit.
