Diagnostic Mode 04: Reset/Delete Diagnostic Data (Generic Tool)

Mode 4: Reset/erase Diagnostic Data

The following functions are performed in this diagnostic mode:
- All emission relevant malfunctions in DTC memory will be erased.
- The operating conditions at which a malfunction was stored will be reset "Mode 2: Check operating conditions". Diagnostic Mode 02 - Read Operating Conditions
- Adaptation values will be reset.
- All test results of the diagnostic functions will be reset.

Work procedure
- Connect diagnostic tester. VAS 5051, Connecting and Select Functions
- Start engine and let run at idle.
- In diagnostic function "33 - OBD", first select "Mode 3: Check DTC memory". Diagnostic Mode 03 - Read DTC Memory
- Then select "Mode 4: Reset/erase diagnostic data".

Will be erased or reset:
- Number and content of DTC memories,
- Operating conditions,
- Adaptation values,
- Test results.

Display appearing on diagnostic tester:
- Display: "Diagnostic data are being erased"
DTC memories are erased.
- After erasing DTC memory, generate readiness code.
- End diagnosis and switch ignition off.
