Transmission, Attaching to Assembly Stand

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Attachment and holding rig (3457)

Holding fixture (VW540) (only for FWD transmissions) (Not for US/Canada)

Holding fixture (VW313)

Holding plate (VW309)

Engine Hoist (VAG1202A)

- Attach the attachment and holding rig (3457) at the transmission housing mounts and secure.





- Bolt the attachment and holding rig to the holding plate (VW309) and place this into the holding fixture (VW313) using a workshop crane.

For transmissions with Front Wheel Drive (FWD), the holding fixture (VW540) can also be used to secure the transmission to the holding fixture (VW313) (Not for US/Canada).

- Secure transmission to holding fixture (VW540 ) (arrows) and insert in holding fixture (VW313 ).





CAUTION!
The center of gravity of the transmission is located outside the turning center at holding fixture. To turn the transmission, a second technician must hold the transmission housing to prevent back-swing.

Vents for the transmission housing and final drive must be closed before turning a filled transmission on the assembly stand so that the oil pan faces upward.
