Removing the Roller Sleeve Outer Race from the Bearing Housing
- Tension the bearing housing in a vise with protective jaws - C -.
- Remove the outer race - A - using a drift - B - alternating over the opposite recesses - arrow - inside the bearing housing.
Installing the Roller Sleeve Outer Race into the Bearing Housing all the Way
Remove the Front Ball Sleeve from the Reverse Gear Selector Rod
A Support, e.g. ( Kukko 22/1)
B Internal puller 14.5 - 18.5 mm, e.g. (Kukko 21/2)
Installing the Front Ball Sleeve into the Reverse Gear Selector Rod
Install the ball sleeve - arrow - with the lettered side (thicker metal) facing the Guide Bolt (10 - 15).
Remove the Rear Ball Sleeve for the Reverse Gear Selector Shaft
- Tension the selector rod yokes in a vise with protective jaws - C -.
- Mount the Thrust Tube (VW 454) and the Thrust Tube (VW 455) on the selector rod.

B Internal Puller 14.5 - 18.5 mm, e.g. (Kukko 21/2)
Installing the Rear Ball Sleeve - A - for the Reverse Gear Selector Rod
Installing the Ball Sleeve for the 3rd and 4th Gear Selector Rod
Set ball sleeve in place with inscribed side (thicker wall) facing toward Guide Pin (10 - 15).
• Press-in dimension - a - = 2.5 mm
Removing and Installing the Selector Rod Securing Bushing
• Each selector rod, for 3rd/4th gear and 5th/6th gear, must be removed.
• For removing and installing the securing bushing - C - attach the bearing housing - B - and the transmission cover - A - to the transmission housing.
- Remove the old securing bushing toward the inside into the bearing housing.
- Install the securing bushing flush.
