Antitheft Relay: Testing and Inspection: Diagnosis and Testing
Starter Interlock Alarm System Relay, Checking
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Voltage tester (V.A.G 1527B)
Procedure
- Remove the Transmission Control Module (J217) and move it to the side with the connector still connected. Refer to => [ Transmission Control Module ] 01V,01VA Transmission.
- Turn the key to the "start" position.
- Move the selector lever back and forth from "S" to " P".
• The Starter Interlock Alarm System Relay (J60) (in the relay carrier, E-box, plenum chamber, location 4) must audibly come on.
• If there is no malfunction, starter can be operated in selector lever position "N" or "P".
- If the relay does not come on, check the voltage supply.
- If the relay comes on but the starter does not turn, check the wire connections from the Starter Interlock Alarm System Relay (J60) to the starter, terminal 50 according to the wiring diagram or check the starter.
Check the voltage supply.
- Tighten the Starter Interlock Alarm System Relay (J60).
- Connect the Voltage Tester (V.A.G 1527B) as follows:
- Turn the key to the "start" position.
• The LED must come on.
- If the LED does not come on, check the wire connection.
Check the control
- Connect the Voltage Tester (V.A.G 1527B) as follows:
- Move the selector lever back and forth from "S" to " P".
• The LED must come on when the selector lever is in the "N" or " P" position. It must not come on when the lever is in the other positions.
- If the LED does not come one, check the selector mechanism and selector lever cable adjustment. Refer to => [ Selector Mechanism, Checking ] 01V,01VA Transmission and => [ Selector Lever Cable, Checking and Adjusting ] 01V,01VA Transmission.
