Clutch With SAC Pressure Plate Assembly Overview, LuK
Clutch with SAC Pressure Plate Assembly Overview, LuK
• Please refer to notes, refer to => [ Clutch General Repair Information ] Procedures.
• Remove transmission before working on clutch. Refer to => [ Transmission, Removing ] Transmission, Removing.
• "SAC" stands for "Self-Adjusting Clutch".
1 Dual-mass flywheel
• Make sure that dowel pins fit tightly.
• Contact surface for clutch lining must be free of grooves, oil and grease.
• Observe instructions for removal, refer to => [ Removing dual-mass flywheel ]
• Removing and installing. Refer to => Engine Mechanical Engine
2 Needle bearing
• Removing and installing, Refer to => Engine Mechanical Engine
3 Bolt for flywheel
• Always replace.
• Bolt length: 22.5 mm; 60 Nm + an additional 90° 1/ 4 turn.
• Bolt length: 43 mm; 60 Nm + an additional 180° 1/ 2 turn.
• Observe instructions for removal, refer to => [ Removing dual mass flywheel ] Self Adjusting Clutch Assembly Overview, Sachs
4 Clutch plate
• Installation position: Clutch lining must make full contact with flywheel.
• Marking "Getriebeseite" (if provided) faces pressure plate/transmission.
• Coil springs (damper assembly) point toward pressure plate and transmission.
• Centralize, refer to => [ Use to centralize clutch plate. ] Clutch With SAC Pressure Plate.
• Clutch plate diameter, refer to => [ Code Letters, Allocation, Transmission Ratios, Capacities ] Code Letters, Allocation, Transmission Ratios, Capacities.
5 SAC pressure plate
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Clutch with SAC Pressure Plate ] Clutch With SAC Pressure Plate.
• Resetting adjuster ring, refer to => [ SAC Clutch Pressure Plate Adjuster Ring Adjusting ] Adjustments.
• Check ends of diaphragm spring, refer to => [ Checking ends of diaphragm spring ]
• Check that pressure plate is not warped, refer to => [ Check SAC pressure plate for warpage, cracks
and burns ]
• Check spring connection and rivets, refer to => [ Checking spring connection and rivet ]
6 Bolt - 22 Nm
• Observe instructions for installation, refer to => [ Clutch with SAC Pressure Plate ] Clutch With SAC Pressure Plate.
Checking ends of diaphragm spring
• Wear up to half the thickness of the diaphragm spring is permitted.
• When performing repairs, always select the correct clutch pressure plate and clutch plate by checking engine code.
Checking spring connection and rivet
- Check spring connections - arrows A - for damage and make sure riveted fastenings - arrows B - are seated tightly.
• Replace pressure plate if spring connections are broken or badly bent, or if riveted fastenings are loose.
Check SAC pressure plate for warpage, cracks and burns
A Straightedge
B Feeler gauge
• Pressure plate warpage up to 1.0 mm is allowed
Removing dual-mass flywheel
• Do not use an impact wrench or pneumatic wrench to remove bolts - B -: this would severely damage the dual-mass flywheel. Bolts - B - must always be removed by hand.
- Rotate flywheel - A - so that bolts - B - are aligned centrally behind the holes - arrows -.
- When removing bolts - B -, make sure bolt heads do not contact flywheel - arrows - because this would damage flywheel when bolts are turned further.
