Affected Vehicles
94 Bulb warning for daytime running lights in instrument cluster
Condition
- Message concerning a light bulb is displayed in the driver information display. The message may be static or sporadic.
- One of the following fault codes may be stored in the Vehicle Electrical System Control Module J519:
- 02745 Left Daytime Running Light Lamp -L174- Open/Short circuit to B+
- 02746 Right Daytime Running Light Lamp -L175- Open/Short circuit to B+

Production Solution
Improved light bulb holders.
Service
1. Check bulb fit in the bulb holder for loose contacts.
2. If the bulb holder has any discoloration, is malformed, or has loose contacts, replace the bulb holder as instructed below. Replacement of the headlight assembly is not allowed for this condition.
Bulb holder replacement:
WARNING:
These wires may have voltage with or without the ignition switch on. Always disconnect the battery to prevent the possibility of personal injury before continuing the repair.
a. Disconnect battery.
b. Cut the bulb holder wires 1 inch from the bulb holder.
c. Use the VAS 1978 Electrical Repair Kit to crimp the wires from the new bulb holder to the wires inside the headlamp assembly and properly insulate the connector.
d. Ensure the wiring is well insulated and routed so that there is no interference with other headlamp assembly components.
3. If the bulb holder does not show any signs of damage, check the wiring harness to the front headlamps for damage or improperly connected connectors.
NOTE:
Headlamp assemblies, xenon lamps, xenon control modules, vehicle central electric control modules or instrument clusters may not be replaced for this condition and may be re-debited.
