Affected Vehicles





Condition

- Headlight range control warning is on in the driver information display. After cycling the ignition, warning symbol is off again.
- DTC 01771 (Control module for vertical headlight aim control system -J431- implausible signal) is stored in the headlight range control module, address word 55.
- The adaptive lighting system otherwise functions properly.

Technical Background
Communication between the headlight range control module and both headlight power output stages (Xenon igniter control unit) is briefly interrupted.

Production Solution
New control module with updated software installed.

Service
Check part number of control unit.
- Control units with part number 4F0 907 357 or 4F0 907 357A cannot be updated and must be replaced.
- Vehicles with the control unit 8P0 907 357 (all indexes) are not affected.
- All other part numbers, follow SVM Update Instructions below.

SVM Update Instructions
1. Follow all instructions in the attached TSB 2011732 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.
2. Update the headlight range control module (J431) using the SVM action code as listed in the table below necessary.





Once the software flash is complete, two DTCs will be stored in the headlight range control module: DTC 01042 (Control Module not coded) and DTC 01539 (Headlights Not Set, none or incorrect basic setting/adaptation). The procedures to code the headlight range control module and perform the basic setting on the headlights are automatically loaded into the GFF System Test Plan.

3. Using GFF, perform the procedure to code the headlight range control module.
4. Using GFF, perform the procedure for the basic setting of the headlights.

All warranty claims submitted for payment must be in accordance with the Audi Warranty Policies and Procedures Manual. Claims are subject to review or audit by Audi Warranty.
