Securing Transmission to Assembly Stand

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Holding plate (VW 309)

• Holding fixture (VW 313)

• Transmission support (VW 353)

• Engine and Transmission Holder (VW 540)

• Workshop crane (VAS 6100)

• Lifting tackle (T40013)

Suspending Transmission Vertically





- Secure the transmission to the assembly stand with bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.

- Install the transmission support (VW 353) onto the holding plate (VW 309).

- Using the workshop crane (VAS 6100), insert the transmission into the holding fixture ( VW 313).





CAUTION!
The center of gravity of the transmission is outside the center of rotation at the holding fixture. To turn the transmission, a second technician must hold the transmission housing to prevent back swing.

Securing Transmission Horizontally

- Bolt the transmission onto the engine and transmission holder (VW 540) - arrows -.





- Using the workshop crane (VAS 6100), insert the transmission into the holding fixture ( VW 313).

CAUTION!
The center of gravity of the transmission is outside the center of rotation at the holding fixture. To turn the transmission, a second technician must hold the transmission housing to prevent back swing.
