Selector Lever Cable

Removing





- Place the selector lever in the "S" position.

- Remove the rear crossmember bolts - arrows - and crossmember.

- Loosen the quick release connectors - 2 - and remove the rear noise insulation.





- Remove the front crossmember bolts - arrows - crossmember.





- Remove the driveshaft:

- Loosen the left and right floor panel covers on the inner side.





- Remove the heat shield - arrow -.

- Mark the installation position of the support bracket for the selector lever cable.





- Press the selector lever cable ball joint - 1 - off of the selector shaft lever.

- Remove the screws - arrow - from the selector lever cable bracket.

• Take care not to bend or kink the selector lever cable.

- Pry out the lock washers - 1 -.





- Slide the noise insulation - 2 - forward.

- Remove the rubber boots - 3 - from the lower selector mechanism cover - 4 -.

- Remove the nuts - 5 -.

- Swing the lower selector mechanism cover and noise insulation forward.

- Remove the selector lever cable retaining clamp - 1 - on the shift mechanism downward.





- Pull the plastic securing spring - 2 - slightly to the front and pull pin - 3 - upward with a screwdriver only as far as necessary.

• Make sure that the pin is not pulled completely out.

- Remove the selector lever cable - 4 - from the shift mechanism.

Installing

Install in the reverse order, paying attention to the following:

• Take care not to bend or kink the selector lever cable.

• Lightly grease the ball socket of the selector lever cable with polycarbamide grease (G 052 142 A2) before installing.

- Slide the selector lever cable into the selector mechanism and secure with retaining clamp - 1 -.





• Installation position: Angled end of retaining clamp points toward the rear.

- Insert the end of the selector lever cable - 4 - into the selector lever joint.

- Press pin - 3 - downward - arrow -.

- Check whether the plastic securing spring - 2 - has locked the pin.

- Install the selector lever cable bracket on the new selector lever cable.

- Install the selector lever cable bracket onto the transmission according to the markings.

- Adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable Adjusting, through 11.05 ] Selector Lever Cable Adjusting, through 11.05.

- Check the shift mechanism. Refer to => [ Selector Mechanism Checking ] Procedures.

- Install the driveshaft:

- Reconnect the exhaust system and ensure it is not under stress.

- Install the rear crossmember. Refer to => [ Tunnel Crossmember ] Tunnel Crossmember.

- Install the front crossmember.
