Stabilizer Bar Coupling Rod







Stabilizer Bar Coupling Rod

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Torque wrench (V.A.G 1332)

Engine-/transmission jack (V.A.G 1383 A) with universal transmission support (V.A.G 1359/2)

Removing

Affect Vehicles with Coil Springs

- Remove coil spring. Refer to => [ Coil Spring ] Coil Spring.

Affects Vehicles with Air Suspension

- Place the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to => [ Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels ] Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels.

- Bleed air spring at rear axle. Refer to => [ Air Spring, Bleeding and Filling ] Rear Suspension.

Affects All Vehicles

- Remove nut - 3 -.






- Remove bolt - 4 -.

- Remove the bolts - 1 -.






- Pull the stabilizer as far back until the hex head bolt - 2 - can be removed.






- Remove the coupling rod - 5 -.

- Remove the stabilizer bar.

If there is not enough room available to remove the stabilizer, perform following steps:

- Support the exhaust system on both mufflers with a wood block and (V.A.G 1383 A).

- Remove the hex nuts - 1 - and lower the exhaust system.






- Remove the stabilizer bar.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Subframe, Stabilizer Bar and Coupling Rod Assembly Overview, AWD ] Subframe, Stabilizer Bar and Coupling Rod Assembly Overview, AWD.

- In vehicles with air spring suspension, charge air spring at rear axle. Refer to => [ Air Spring, Bleeding and Filling ] Rear Suspension.

- On vehicles with air suspension, position vehicle on wheels. Refer to => [ Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels ] Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels.
