Right Side Components
• Before raising the vehicle on a hoist (wheels off the ground), activate the vehicle lift mode.
=> [ Exhaust Manifold ]
=> [ Catalytic Converter with Front Muffler ]
=> [ Front Muffler ]
=> [ Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Combination Valve ]
Exhaust Manifold
Removing
- Remove the engine. Refer to => [ Engine, Removing ] Engine, Removing.
- Remove the coolant pipe bolts - arrows -.
- Reposition the coolant pipe clamp - arrow - and the remove the pipe.
- Free up the wire for the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) (G39).
- Remove the catalytic converter with front muffler to exhaust manifold nuts - 1 through 3 -.
- Disconnect the electrical connector - 2 - (black) for the Oxygen Sensor (O2S) behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) (G130).
- Remove the bolt - 1 - for the exhaust pipe suspended mount.
- Remove the heat shield - 2 -.
- Free up the O2S behind TWC electrical wire.
• The flex joint in the front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10 degrees, otherwise it may be damaged.
- Remove the nut - 2 - from the bracket and remove the catalytic converter with front muffler.
- Remove the exhaust manifold bolts - arrows -.
Installing
• Replace the self locking nuts.
• Replace the gaskets.
- Installation is performed in reverse order.
Tightening Specifications

Catalytic Converter with Front Muffler
- Remove the noise insulation fasteners - 1 through 4 - and noise insulation.
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling ] Procedures.
- Remove the air filter.
- Remove the coolant pipe bolts - arrows -.
- Reposition the coolant pipe clamp - arrow - and remove the pipe.
- Free up the wire for the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) (G39).
- Remove the catalytic converter with front muffler to exhaust manifold nuts - 1 through 3 -.
- Disconnect the electrical connector - 2 - (black) for the Oxygen Sensor (O2S) behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) (G130).
- Remove the bolt - 1 - for the exhaust pipe suspended mount.
- Remove the heat shield bolt - 2 -.
- Free up the O2S behind TWC electrical wire.
• The flex joint in the front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10 degrees, otherwise it may be damaged.
- Remove the nut - 2 - from the bracket and remove the catalytic converter with front muffler.
Installing
- Installation is performed in reverse order.
• Replace the self locking nuts.
• Replace the gaskets.
- Install the exhaust system free of stress. Refer to => [ Exhaust System Installing ] Exhaust System Installing.
- Install the air filter.
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling ] Procedures.

Front Muffler
• Before raising the vehicle on a hoist (wheels off the ground), activate the vehicle lift mode.
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Chain pipe cutter (VAS 6254)
- Remove the noise insulation fasteners - 2 through 4 - and noise insulation.
- Cut the right exhaust pipe using the (VAS 6254).
• Dimension - a - 67 mm
• The flex joint in the front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10 degrees, otherwise it may be damaged.
- Loosen the double clamp - 2 - and slide it toward the front.
- Remove the right exhaust pipe nut - 2 - from the bracket.
Installing
• Replace the self locking nuts.
- Installation is performed in reverse order.
- Install the exhaust system free of stress. Refer to => [ Exhaust System Installing ] Exhaust System Installing.

Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Combination Valve
Removing
- Remove the engine cover - 1 - upward.
- Remove the clips - 1 -.
- Remove the bolt - 2 - and remove the cover.
• Note the clips - arrows - when installing.
- Remove the hose - 1 -.
- Disconnect the hose - 1 -.
- Unclip the hose - 2 -.
- Remove the air intake tube - arrows -.
- Disconnect the electrical connector - 1 - from the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.
- Remove the air filter box - arrows -.
- Remove the bolts - 1 and 2 -.
- Reposition the crankshaft ventilation pipe clamps - arrows - and remove the pipe.
• Illustration shows the engine from the rear.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors - 1 through 4 - from the bracket on the right bulkhead.
- Remove the bracket from the bulkhead.
- Reposition the hose clamps - arrows - for the Secondary Air Injection (AIR).
- Remove the bolts - 1 and 2 - and remove the AIR pipe.
• Illustration shows the engine from the rear.
- Disconnect the vacuum hose - arrow -.
- Remove the bolts - 1 and 2 - and remove the AIR combination valve.
• Illustration shows the engine from the rear.
Installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:
• Always replace the gaskets and seals.
• Secure all hose connections using hose clamps appropriate for the model type.
- Install the air filter.
