Fuel Filler Cap Sensor / Switch: Testing and Inspection
Fuel Tank Lock Switch -F314-
Fuel Tank Lock Switch -F314- consists of a reed contact on fuel filler tube and a connector flange cap with an embedded magnet. With a connector flange cap that is not fully screwed on, the reed contact switches and triggers an indication on the display in instrument cluster.
- Check the following items in order with a lighted display:
- Proper connector flange cap (recognized by: with magnet (arrow)
- Connector flange cap is fully screwed on
- Switch -1- is fully inserted at fuel filler tube
- Electrical fault in switch. Checking.
- Faulty wiring connection to instrument cluster (check according to wiring diagram)
Electrical test for Fuel Tank Lock Switch -F314-
- Rear right wheelhousing liner, removing:
- Disconnect electrical harness connector -2-.
- Connect multimeter between terminal 1 and 2 for resistance measurement.
Connector flange cap Specified value
Screwed on tightly 8.5 to 11.5 ohms
Not or incorrectly screwed on infinity ohms
If specified values are not obtained:
- Replace Fuel Tank Lock Switch -F314-. To do so, disconnect electrical harness connector -2- and unclip/clip switch with connection from bracket.
