Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting
Procedure
• For the purposes of airbag servicing only, the ignition must first be switched on, and must remain on, before disconnecting the vehicle battery.
• For vehicles with Telematics, activate service mode of Telematic control module using Guided Fault-Finding with the Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051B) before disconnecting the battery.
- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
- Remove right luggage compartment side trim cover - arrows -.
- Remove cover - 1 - over battery.
• Disregard item - 2 -.
- Loosen nut several turns and remove ground wire terminal clamp - arrow - from battery terminal.
- To connect, connect terminal clamp of ground (GND) wire by hand to battery negative terminal "-" and tighten nut.
When connecting the battery, perform the following steps:
• Deactivate service mode of Telematic Control Module using "Guided Fault-Finding".
• Activate the power window regulator one-touch up/down function. Refer to the Owner's Manual.
• Turn ignition key in ignition lock once to left as far as it will go.
• Synchronize the spare and additional keys to ensure remote control operation.
• Check the DTC memories of all the control units and erase the undervoltage fault if necessary with the Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051B).
• After connecting the power supply, the ABS warning lamp may only go out after the vehicle has been driven a few yards.
Tightening Specifications
