AFFECTED VEHICLES





CONDITION
^ Whining noises in deceleration from freeway speeds.

^ Vehicle is an A6 or A8 Quattro model with 01R rear final drive.

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND

Wear of bearing and bearing carrier in the rear differential housing.

PRODUCTION SOLUTION

Change to new final drive OAR, gradual introduction during MY 06-07 for individual engine-gearbox variants.

^ The 01R final drive has a black housing.

^ The OAR is unpainted (silver).

SERVICE

1. Try to reproduce the customer complaint so that it can be clearly assigned to this TSB. The following repair must only be carried out if all the criteria (model/type, chassis number, engine/gearbox code) match exactly. Otherwise this solution will not work and a repeat repair may be necessary. In such a case, a Warranty claim may be denied.





2. Instead of the O1R final drive, install the new OAR final drive. (See list above.)

3. If the concern is not repaired or if the OAR final drive is already installed, open a TACS case and contact the Technical Assistance Center. Make sure to reference this TSB number in the contact.
