Service
Tip: Before beginning the repair, check whether the vehicle is also affected by Required Vehicle Update 1W - Replacement of Trunk Lid Hinges. If this is the case, ensure that the work required for RVU IX and IW is performed at the same time.
Checking drive unit for trunk lid:
Remove the cover from the luggage compartment trim on the right side.
- Check for a handwritten torque rating on the drive unit for the trunk lid. The drive unit does not have to be removed for this step.
Example: 177 Nm
If the drive unit is marked with a handwritten torque rating, the unit has already been tested. No further steps are required.
If there is no handwritten torque rating, the drive unit for the trunk lid must be replaced.
Replacing the drive unit for the trunk lid:
- Replace the drive unit for the trunk lid according to the directions in ElsaWeb[] General body repairs, exterior; Repair group 55; "Removing and installing trunk lid drive".
Function check:
- Using the power drive, completely open and close the trunk lid 10 times.
Tip: The system will calibrate itself automatically during the first three operations. If the trunk lid does not open and close by itself, assist by pushing lightly by hand.
