Basic Setting
NOTE:
- This Repair Information only outlines the function "Basic Setting". Perform "Basic Setting" in Guided Fault Finding Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 in "Guided Fault Finding" function.
- On vehicles with Rear A/C control head E265 as optional equipment, basic setting must be performed for Rear A/C control head E265 after basic setting for, Climatronic control module J255 has been performed. Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 in "Guided Fault Finding" function.
- With ignition switched off, connect diagnostic operation system VAS 5051 A with diagnostic cable VAS 5051/5A to 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC) in vehicle.
- Select AC/Heating electronics or " Rear A/C control head" using address word "08" or "28".
NOTE:
- Coding of, Climatronic Control Module J255 was checked and, if necessary, corrected. Read Measuring Value Block (the currently valid coding is displayed in measuring value block). Climatronic Control Module J255, Coding
- DTC memory was checked, Check DTC Memory (Function 02) displayed malfunctions were eliminated and DTC memory was erased. Erase A/C System DTC Memory, End Output
- The A/C system is switched on (operating mode "Auto").
Indication on display of diagnostic operation system VAS 5051 A:
- Select function "04 - Basis Setting".
Indication on display of diagnostic operation system VAS 5051 A:
- Display field - 1 - indicates request to input display group.
- Display field - 2 - shows input keyboard.
- Enter the desired display group number, e.g. "01" or "001" for "Display group number 001" via the input keyboard in the display field - 2 -, and confirm by pressing the Q button.
Indication on display of diagnostic operation system VAS 5051 A:
Control motors installed are then actuated in the specified sequence.
End positions of control motors (resistance values at stop) are stored in the, Climatronic Control Module J255, or Rear A/C control head E265 (resistance value of potentiometers installed in control motors) and used for further regulation.
Once control motors have reached both end stops, they are moved again from one stop to the other. During this, the adjustment time is measured and stored in the Climatronic Control Module J255 (Rear A/C control head E265 in the event an emergency running is necessary.
Indication on display of diagnostic operation system VAS 5051 A:
Wait until "0" is displayed for the indicated feedback values in display field - 1 -.
NOTE:
- If "0" is displayed in the display fields, basic setting is completed.
- By clicking the <- button, you will return to the selection menu.
- If a malfunction is detected at a potentiometer of a control motor during Basic Setting, a substitution value is stored as the adaptation value (learned value for this potentiometer) and displayed in the corresponding measuring value block. The malfunction "upper limit exceeded or lower limit exceeded" is stored in DTC memory for this control motor.
- Pressing button - 2 - changes to a different display group.
- Press button - 3 - to change to a different function (e.g. from "Basic Setting" to "Read Measuring Value Block" and back again).
- Check DTC memory. Check DTC Memory (Function 02)
NOTE: Perform Basic Setting again if a malfunction was detected and repaired.
- End On Board Diagnostic (OBD) at Climatronic Control Module J255. End Output (Function 06)
- Select Rear A/C Control Head (Climatronic) E265 (optional equipment) via address word "28".
- Perform basic setting for the components which have been actuated by Rear A/C Control Head (Climatronic) E265 in the same way as for components which have been actuated by the front Climatronic Control Module J255.
