Fuel Injectors, Checking

Fuel Injectors, Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Multimeter (VAG1526) or Multimeter (VAG1715)

Voltage test lamp (VAG1527)

Connector test kit (VAG1594)

Wiring diagram

Electrical Test

- Disconnect connector at the fuel injector to be tested.

- Perform a resistance measurement between fuel injector terminals using a portable multimeter (VAG1526).

Specified value: 12 to 20 ohms

If specified value is not obtained, replace respective fuel injector.

Voltage Supply, Checking

- Disconnect connector at the fuel injector to be tested.

- Connect voltage test lamp (VAG1527) between terminal 1 of connector and engine Ground (GND).

- Switch ignition on:

Voltage test lamp must light up.

- If voltage test lamp does not light up, check wire connection from terminal 1 via fuse for fuel injectors (fuse assignment in fuse holder in instrument panel, right side) to Fuel Pump (FP) Relay (J17) for open circuit.

If voltage test lamp lights up, check activation of fuel injectors.

Activation, Checking

- Disconnect connector at the fuel injector to be tested.

- Using cables from connector test kit (VAG1594), connect voltage test lamp (VAG1527) between terminals 1 and 2.

- Operate starter and test activation of fuel injector.

Voltage test lamp must blink respectively.

- If voltage test lamp does not light up, connect test box (VAG1598/31) to wiring harness for Engine Control Module (ECM).

- Check wire connection between terminal 2 of connector from respective fuel injector and Engine Control Module (ECM) for continuity or short circuit to B+:

- Repair open circuit in wiring or short circuit if necessary.

- If voltage supply and activation are OK, replace Engine Control Module (ECM), generate readiness code again => [ Readiness Code, Generating ] Monitors, Trips, Drive Cycles and Readiness Codes.
