Left Exhaust Manifold with Catalytic Converters

Removing

Engine/transmission unit removed and attached to scissor lift platform (VAS 6131).

All cable ties opened or cut during engine removal must be reinstalled at the same locations during installation.

- Separate the following electrical connections for oxygen sensors:





1 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 3 (G285), (6-pin, black)
2 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 4 (G286), (6-pin, brown)
3 Oxygen sensor (O2S) 3 behind three way catalytic converter (TWC) (G287), (4-pin, green)
6 Oxygen sensor (O2S) 4 behind three way catalytic converter (TWC) (G288), (4-pin, gray)

To disconnect electrical connectors - 3 - and - 6 -, unclip bracket for connectors from air filter housing and turn over (shown in close-up).

Disregard the other items.

- Remove bolts - arrows - and pivot bracket for left exhaust manifolds with catalytic converters downward.





- Remove bolts - 1 -.





- Pull oil dipstick guide tube upward and off - arrow -.

- Remove nuts - 1 to 4 - and left exhaust manifold with catalytic converters.





Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

Replace self-locking nuts.

Replace gaskets and O-rings.

During installation, all cable ties must be re-installed at the same location.

Tightening Specifications
