C-Pillar Trim, Removing and Installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1783)





CAUTION!
Note safety precautions for working on airbags => [ Airbag System Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions and side curtain airbags => [ Side Curtain Airbag Safety Precautions ] Side Curtain Airbag Safety Precautions.

Replace self-locking screws.





1 C-pillar trim

Removal:

- Remove rear seat side panel => [ Rear Seat Side Upholstery ] Rear Seats or rear side airbag => [ Rear Side Airbag, Folding Backrest, Removing and Installing ] Side Airbags, Servicing.

- Remove luggage compartment side trim => [ Luggage Compartment Side Trim ].

- Remove cover above rear doors => [ Trim above Rear Door, Removing and Installing ].

- Remove rear belt guide => [ Left and Right Rear Belt Guide Piece ] Service and Repair.

- Remove bolts for head-level airbag in rear area => [ Side Curtain Airbag, Avant ] Side Curtain Airbag, Servicing.

- Remove the bolts - 3 -.

- Remove trim - 1 -, unclip spring clip - 2 - to do so.

Installing:

To install, perform the steps used in removal in reverse order. Observe the following when doing so:

- Secure head-level airbag with new bolts => [ Side Curtain Airbag, Avant ] Side Curtain Airbag, Servicing.

- Lay the rubber seal in the rear side door over the C-pillar trim.

CAUTION!
Ensure trim is held securely.

3 Screws, (Qty. 2)

Tightening specification 3.5 Nm
