Note:
^ To perform assembly work, secure engine with Holder for V8 Engine Audi S4, allroad quattro VAS 609511-6 or Holder for V8 Engine Audi S4, allroad quattro VAS 6095/16A to Engine and Transmission Holder VAS 6095.

Sealant applied on cylinder block (for guide frame)
- Clean sealing surfaces, they must be free of oil and grease.
- Apply sealant beads - arrows - on clean sealing surfaces of guide frame as shown in illustration.
^ Thickness of sealant beads: 1.5 to 2.0 mm.
- Install seals - 1 to 3 -.
Installation position of alignment bushings
- Check whether alignment bushings - arrows - are inserted at locations in guide frame as shown in the illustration.
Installing guide frame
- Replace bolts - 1 to 20 -.
- Tighten bolts for guide frame as follows:
- Tighten bolts - 1 to 10 - to 30 Nm with torque wrench.
- Tighten bolts - 11 to 20 - to 20 Nm with torque wrench.
- Tighten bolts - 1 to 10 - to 50 Nm with torque wrench.
- Tighten bolts - 11 to 20 - to 30 Nm with torque wrench.
- Tighten bolts - 1 to 10 - 90° (1/4 additional turn) using a rigid wrench.
- Tighten bolts - 11 to 20 - 90° (1/4 additional turn) using a rigid wrench.
- Tighten bolts for sealing surfaces of cylinder block/guide frame - dark hatching in the illustration - to 9 Nm in diagonal sequence.
