Front Brakes, FN 3, Assembly Overview
1 - Phillips-head screw - 4 Nm
2 - Brake disc
^ Unscrew brake caliper housing prior to removing
^ Never remove brake discs from hub by force. If necessary, use penetrating fluid, otherwise brake discs can be damaged.
^ When worn always replace both sides
3 - Brake pads
^ When worn always replace both sides
4 - Retaining spring
^ Insert in both brake caliper housing holes
5 - Brake carrier
^ Replacement brake carriers are supplied assembled and with sufficient grease at guide pins
^ Install repair set in the event of damage to protective caps; use pad provided to grease guide pins.
6 - Brake caliper housing
^ Remove from brake carrier to replace brake pads
7 - Guide pin - 28 Nm
8 - Protective cap
9 - Brake hose with banjo union and banjo bolt - 35 Nm
10 - Ribbed bolt - 125 Nm
^ Clean ribs if using again
11 - Wheel bearing housing
12 - Hex head bolt
13 - Speed sensor
14 - Backing plate
15 - Bolt - 10 Nm
16 - Wheel bearing
17 - Circlip
18 - Wheel hub with rotor
19 - Brake pads
^ With wear indicator (left side only)
- Warning lamp in instrument cluster lights up when wear limit is reached
^ Different versions possible
^ When worn always replace both sides
20 - Electrical connector
21 - Bracket
22 - Self-metal screw
Installation position of brake pads
1. Right-side piston brake pad
2. Left-side piston brake pad
3. When installed, (arrow) on backplate of brake pad must face downward.
Brake hose connection with anti-twist element
- Make sure that the groove in the ring connection on the brake hose is installed in the locating lug (arrow).
