Exhaust System: Description and Operation



Exhaust System Components

NOTE:
- Always replace seals, self-locking nuts, and clamping sleeves.
- After working on the exhaust system ensure that the system is not under stress, and that it has sufficient clearance from the bodywork. If necessary, loosen double clamps and align muffler and exhaust pipe so that sufficient clearance is maintained to the bodywork and mounts carry uniform loads.
- Do not use sealants containing silicone. Particles of silicone drawn into the engine, will not be burnt in the engine and damage the oxygen sensor.
- Loosen and tighten clamping washers for heat shields using a screwdriver. Torque specification: 2 Nm
- Do not over-bend decoupling element flex pipe at front exhaust pipe (max. 10 degrees).
- If droning noises are detected after alignment of exhaust system, engine mounts must be adjusted.
- Components marked with are tested via On Board Diagnostic (OBD).
