Throttle Position Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair

Tiptronic switch - F189 -, removing and installing, 09G, 6 Speed A/T

In order to replace the Tiptronic switch, the circuit board (Item - 7 -) must be replaced.

Removing
- Check whether a coded radio is installed. If so, obtain anti-theft code.
- Shift selector lever into position "D".
- With ignition switched off disconnect battery Ground strap.
- Remove selector lever handle.
- Remove rear center console.





- Disconnect connector - 1 - of printed circuit board.
- Remove connector from hole (arrow) in bracket - 2 -.





- At four hooks (arrows) carefully bend frame outward with a screwdriver and remove together with retaining ring, printed circuit board and cover -A-.





- Remove screws (arrows).
- Remove retaining ring together with top cover and disconnect side cover from frame.





- Unclip wiring harness -A-.
- Disconnect printed circuit board with integrated Tiptronic switch - F189 - from guides of frame (arrows).





- Check that solenoid (arrow) on cross roller of screen is firmly seated; if necessary replace screen, Fig. 2 and Fig. 3.

Installing
Installation is in reverse order. Note the following:





- Position printed circuit board with holes on guides of frame (arrows).
- Clip wiring harness -A- into frame ensuring that printed circuit board does not become deformed.
- Install rear center console.
- Install selector lever handle.
