Power Steering Pressure Switch: Testing and Inspection
Pressure switch for power steering, checking
The function of the power steering pressure switch is to stabilize the idling speed when the steering wheel is turned to full lock (left or right).
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
^ Hand-held multimeter V.A.G 1526 or V.A.G 1526A
^ Adapter set V.A.G 1594
Checking switch
- Detach connector at Pressure Switch/power steering F88 on power steering pump.
- Connect multimeter to switch (resistance test range).
- Start engine.
^ Specification: Ohms (no continuity)
- Turn steering wheel to full lock in both directions.
^ Specification: approx. 0 Ohms
If reading does not change:
- Replace Pressure Switch/power steering F88.
