Drive Pinion Housing, Removing and Installing



Drive pinion housing, removing and installing

Adjustment work is necessary when replacing these parts.





1 - Socket head cap bolt, 10 Nm

2 - Cover
^ For drive pinion housing
^ In aluminum covers, with additional seal
^ In plastic, with additional vulcanized seal

3 - Seal
^ Always replace

4 - Oil filler plug, 30 Nm

5 - Magnet

6 - Gasket
^ Discontinued for plastic covers

7 - Hex nut, 45 Nm
^ Insert with locking fluid D 197 300A1
^ Replace 8 - Drive pinion housing *See note
^ Removing
^ Installing

9 - Oil filter
^ Tighten to 35 Nm

10 - O-ring
^ Always replace
^ Coat with oil for Haldex clutch when inserting

11 - O-ring
^ Always replace
^ Install coated with gear oil
^ Replace O-ring for drive pinion housing / Haldex clutch (final drive removed), replacing

12 - Shim S3
^ Note thickness
^ Adjustment overview Adjustment overview (rear final drive)

13 - Rear axle housing *See note
^ Clean pin bolt threads of locking compound when securing drive pinion housing.

I - Aluminum cover - A - with additional seal - B -.

II - Plastic cover with cured seal - arrow 1 -

Note:
^ Allocate oil filler plug sealing ring - arrow 2 -.
^ Only use plastic cover for drive pinion housing with wider sealing surfaces
