Matching Procedure For Keys With Remote Control

The vehicle is supplied with 2 keys incorporating a remote control function.

If additional keys with remote control function are needed, these must be matched to the Central Locking Control Module.

The matching procedure must also be performed for existing keys if the scan tool displays DTCs 00955 - 00958, or if the batteries in the keys are changed.

Procedure for matching new keys
- Switch on the ignition using a spare key.
- Check measuring value block 006 to see how many keys have already been matched. Read measuring value block. Read Measuring Value Block

Indicated on display

Read measuring value block 6 ->
0 0000 1100

Display zone 3 will show how many keys have been matched and which memory positions they are stored in. (In the example, two keys have been matched, one in position 1 and the other in position 2.)

- Lock the vehicle from the outside at the driver's door using the key which is to be matched.
- Within a period of 5 seconds, keep pressing the "Unlock" button on the key until the next memory position is reached. (In the example, this would be three times.)
Each time the button is pressed, the hazard warning lights will flash to confirm.
- Wait for 5 seconds.
- Press the "Unlock" button again. The vehicle will unlock.
- Switch off the ignition and take out the ignition key.
- Check to make sure that the remote control function of the new key is working.
- Check display zone 3 in measuring value block 006. The display should now show an extra "1" (in the example, "1110").

NOTE:
- Always make sure to store new keys in memory positions which are not already occupied. If a new key is stored in an already occupied position (indicated by a "1"), the key that was originally stored in this position will no longer work.
- Only four keys can be adapted
- The adaptation process must be completed within 30 seconds. If this time is exceeded, the procedure must be repeated.

Procedure for re-matching existing keys

NOTE: This procedure must be performed after changing the batteries in keys with remote control function, or if the scan tool displays DTCs 00955 - 00958.

- Press one of the buttons on the key.

If the vehicle does not lock or unlock:
- Lock the vehicle at the driver's door and unlock it again within a period of 30 seconds.
- Check to make sure that the re-matched key is working.

If vehicle still does not lock or unlock, key must be readapted.

Erasing memory positions
Memory positions can be erased, e.g. if a customer has lost a radio-controlled remote key.
- Switch ignition on (using an additional key).
- From exterior, lock driver's side door, using door lock.
- Press "Unlock" button of radio-controlled remote key 5 times in 1 second intervals.

NOTE: Every button depression is confirmed by the emergency flashers.

- Switch ignition off and remove ignition key.
- Memory positions have been erased. The central locking system must not unlock when operating the "Unlock" button remote key.
- Check display field 3 in measuring value block 006.

Indicated on display:

Read measuring value block 6 ->
0 0000 0000

All memory positions have now been erased; all digits in display field 3 have been set to "0" (in example: 0000).

- Up to four keys can now be adapted.
