Test requirements

- Before beginning the test, switch off ignition and electrical consumers (headlights, lighting, fans ...).
- Fuses S9, S15, S178, S179 must be OK (remove fuses from fuse holder for test).

Removing air filter housing






- Disconnect connector -2- at Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.

- Use VAG1921 hose clip pliers to loosen spring-type clamps -1- at air duct and remove them from air filter housing.

- Remove air filter housing bolts -3- and remove air filter housing -4-.






- Disengage connector from control module (arrow -1-) and disconnect (arrow -2-).






- Disconnect multi-pin connector from ABS control module (w/EDL) -J104- and connect VAG1598/33 test box -1- to connector of wiring harness -2-.

Specified values refer to readings on the VAG1526 and are not necessarily applicable for other test units.
