A/C System Control And Regulation Components In Engine Compartment And Rear Body







NOTE:
- Upon completion of any A/C system repairs, always check and erase the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory (scan tool function 02), perform basic setting (function 04) and code the A/C control head -E87- (function 07).
- Checking A/C cooling efficiency.
- Refrigerant circuit.
- All components marked with an asterisk (*) are activated during output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) (function 03).
- Note different coding possibilities for A/C control head -E87-.
- Electrical testing can be performed on all components marked with a double asterisk (**).

1 - Air extraction vents
- Sealing flaps in vent must move freely and close automatically.
- Checking.

NOTE: To ensure proper ventilation of the passenger compartment, the air ducts leading through the luggage compartment trim and to the two extraction vents (left and right under the bumper) must not be obstructed.

2 - Coolant Fan Control (FC) Module -J293- *
- Also energizes A/C clutch clutch -N25-.
- The function of -J293 and vehicle wiring layout will vary depending on whether vehicle is equipped with A/C pressure switch - F129 or high pressure sensor -G65-.
3 - Outside air temperature sensor -G17-**
- Removing and installing:
- Remove bumper cover.
- Disconnect electrical connection.
- Unclip sensor and remove.
4 - Condenser

CAUTION: Condenser must only be removed after refrigerant has been discharged.

5 - A/C refrigerant system identification label
- Indicates type of refrigerant used (R-134a) and system (filling) capacity.

NOTE: On some vehicles, A/C refrigerant system identification label may be located on the underside of the front hood or on the left fender well.

6 - A/C Compressor
- 4-cylinder engine - removing and installing from bracket (refrigerant pipes remain connected).
- 6-cylinder engine - removing and installing from bracket (refrigerant pipes remain connected).

CAUTION: A/C Compressor must only be removed after refrigerant has been discharged.

7 - A/C Clutch -N25- *
- Servicing.

NOTE:
- 4-cylinder engines - removing and installing ribbed belt.
- 6-cylinder engines - removing and installing ribbed belt.

8 - Service connection
- High pressure side
- Used to discharge or charge refrigerant, as well as check refrigerant system pressures.

NOTE:
- Always replace sealing cap after using service connection.
- Depending on engine type, it may be necessary to remove the front suspension cross-brace in order to access service valve.







9 - A/C pressure switch -F129- or high pressure sensor -G65-
- As a running change in production, pressure switch -F129- is replaced by high pressure sensor -G65-.
- The function of Coolant Fan Control (FC) Module -J293- and vehicle wiring layout will vary depending on whether vehicle is equipped with A/C pressure switch -F129- or high pressure sensor -G65-.

- -G65- removing and installing.
10 - Expansion valve
- Removing and installing insulation.

CAUTION: Expansion valve must only be removed after refrigerant has been discharged.

11 - Evaporator housing drain valve
- Checking, removing and installing.
12 - Receiver drier







13 - Damper (with refrigerant line)

NOTE: Damper and service valve on vehicles with 6-cylinder engines are located near right strut tower, near -G65-.

CAUTION: Receiver drier and damper must only be removed after refrigerant has been discharged.

14 - Service connection
- Low pressure side
- Used to discharge or charge refrigerant, as well as check refrigerant system pressures.

NOTE:
- Always replace sealing cap after using service connection.
- Damper and service valve on vehicles with 6-cylinder engines are located near right strut tower, near -G65-.
- Depending on engine type, it may be necessary to remove the front suspension cross-brace in order to access service valve.

15 - Air flow flap
- Removing and installing air flow flap motor -V71-* (with motor position sensor -G113-).
16 - Fresh air intake duct temperature sensor -G89- **
17 - Dust and pollen filter

NOTE: The dust and pollen filter element should be replaced at regular intervals.
