EVAP Canister Purge Solenoid Valve 1, Checking
Solenoid valve is closed when no voltage is present.

- V.A.G 1526 portable multimeter or V.A.G 1715 multimeter
- Adapter set V. A. G 1594
- Wiring diagram
Test Conditions
- Fuse for Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve -N80- OK.
- Fuel Pump (FP) Relay -J17- OK
- Ignition switched off.
Test Sequence
- Disconnect 2-pin connector -1 - from Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve -N80- (- 2 -).
Engine Codes AMU, ATC
- Measure resistance between terminals of solenoid valve.
Specification: 22.0 to 30.0 Ohms
Engine Codes AWP, BEA
- Measure resistance between terminals of solenoid valve.
Specification: 22.0 to 30.0 Ohms
All Vehicles
If the specification is not obtained:
- Replace Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve -N80-,.
- Erase DTC memory of ECM. Diagnostic Mode 04 - Erase DTC Memory
- Generate readiness code. Generate Readiness Code
If the specification is obtained:
- Connect test box to control module wiring harness, do not connect Engine Control Module (ECM), Test Box, Connecting For Wiring Test connecting test box for wiring test.
Engine Codes AMU, ATC
- Check wire between test box socket 64+2-pin connector terminal 2 for open circuit according to wiring diagram.
Wiring resistance: max. 1.5 Ohms
Engine Codes AWP, BEA
- Check wire between test box socket 64+2-pin connector terminal 2 for open circuit according to wiring diagram.
Wiring resistance: max. 1.5 Ohms
All Vehicles
- Also check the wire for short circuit to B+ and Ground (GND).
Specification: Infinite Ohms
- Check wire between 2-pin connector terminal 1 and the Fuel Pump (FP) Relay -J17- for open circuit according to wiring diagram.
Wiring resistance: max. 1.5 Ohms
If no fault is detected in the wiring:
- Replace Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) -J220-
