Component, assembly overview
1 - Suspension strut
^ The same version must be installed on both sides
^ Remove suspension strut from wheel bearing housing
2 - Hex bolt
^ Always replace if removed
3 - Hex socket head bolt, 8 Nm
4 - ABS wheel speed sensor
^ Before inserting sensor, clean inner surface of installation hole and coat with lubricating paste G 000 650.
5 - Self-locking nut
^ Tightening torque: 45 Nm
^ TT VR6 Roadster: 75 Nm
^ Always replace if removed
6 - Tie rod ball joint
7 - Hex bolt, 10 Nm
8 - Self-locking 12-point nut
Pay attention to notes and table
^ Always replace if removed
9 - Phillips-head screw, 4 Nm
10 - Brake disc (ventilated)
11 - Wheel hub with rotor for wheel speed sensor

^ Rotor is welded to wheel hub
12 - Backing plate
13 - Snap ring
^ Check for proper seating
14 - Wheel bearing
Before pressing in wheel bearing, coat entire inner surface of bore in wheel bearing housing with Molypaste
15 - Self-locking nut
^ Tightening torque: 75 Nm
^ TT VR6 Roadster: 150 Nm
^ Always replace if removed
16 - Ball joint
^ Mark installation position; if control arm is replaced, place in center of elongated hole and check toe setting/camber
17 - Brake carrier
18 - Brake caliper
^ Do not disconnect brake hose when working on front suspension
^ Tie in position with wire or similar
19 - Guide pins, 25 Nm
20 - Protective cap
21 - Ribbed bolt, 125 Nm
^ Clean ribbing on underside of bolt head
^ Brake line must not be twisted or kinked
22 - Self-locking nut
^ 60 Nm plus and additional 90°1/4 turn
^ Always replace if removed
23 - Wheel bearing housing
Before pressing in wheel bearing, coat entire inner surface of bore in wheel bearing housing with Molypaste
24 - Drive axle
Pay attention to notes and table
^ Pressing drive axle out of wheel hub; pressing in, Drive axles
Disconnecting suspension strut from wheel bearing housing
- Insert special tool - 3424 - as shown and force wheel bearing housing apart.
Coat entire surface of bore in wheel bearing housing with Molypaste (AOS 115 000 01).
Note: A grease packet containing 3 grams of grease is included with the wheel bearing kit.
