Clutch System, Bleeding



Clutch system, bleeding, 02M/02Y, 5 & 6 Speed M/T, AWD

^ Brake filler and bleeder unit VAS 5234

Work procedure

Note:
^ Bleed clutch system after working on hydraulic clutch mechanism.
^ Pre-filling the system is not necessary.
^ For the following work step, make sure no brake fluid leaks onto transmission.

- Pull clutch pedal back to rest position.
- Connect Brake filler and bleeder unit VAS 5234 to brake fluid reservoir, however do not switch on yet.
- If necessary, use bleeder hose V.A.G 1238 B/3 670 mm for bleeding.
- Connect bleeder hose with collector bottle of Brake filler and bleeder unit VAS 5234.





- Connect bleeder hose V.A.G 1238 B/3 at bleeder valve - arrow -.

Note: Make sure that bleeder hose is installed correctly during bleeding procedure.

- Open bleeder valve - arrow -.
- Switch on brake charger/bleeder unit.
^ Work pressure 2.0 bar positive pressure.
- Bleed approx. 100 cm 3 of brake fluid.
- Close bleeder valve.
- Operate clutch pedal quickly from stop to stop 15 times.
- Bleed another 50 cm 3 of brake fluid.
- Close bleeder valve and tighten to 4.5 Nm.
- Depress clutch pedal several times after completion of bleeding process.
- Bleed system again if necessary.
- Disconnect bleeder hose and seal with protective cap.
- Disconnect Brake filler and bleeder unit VAS 5234 from brake fluid reservoir.
