Engine Lubrication: Locations



Lubrication system, component overview





1 - 5 Nm

^ Secured to intake manifold

2 - Oil dipstick

3 - Guide tube for oil dipstick

4 - Cylinder block

5 - Oil return valve

^ Note installed position

6 - 8 Nm

7 - Cover for oil pump drive

8 - O-ring

^ Replace
^ Lubricate before installing

9 - Oil pump drive

10 - Intermediate shaft

11 -Thrust washer

12 - 10 Nm

^ Install using locking fluid

13 - Oil spray jet (for cooling of pistons)

^ For crankshaft bearings 2... 7
^ Opening pressure: 2.0 bar

14 - Input shaft for oil pump drive

15 - Oil pump

^ Coat oil pressure pipe at cylinder block and at oil pump housing with sealing paste

16 - 23 Nm

17 - Oil drain plug, 30 Nm

18 - Sump

19 - Oil level/Oil level thermal sensor -G266-

20 - 12 Nm

21 - Oil filter bracket

Removing and installing oil return valve





- To remove, screw in M8 x 1.5 bolt approx. 4 turns into valve (arrow) and pull out.
- To install, lubricate O-ring and press valve into oil channel by hand.

Removing and installing oil spray jet

Note:
Oil spray jets are installed in crankshaft main bearings 2... 7.

- To remove, use a 4 mm drift to press out oil spray jet toward crankshaft bearing.





- To install, use a 6 mm drift to press in oil spray jet (arrow) by hand.

1 - Bolt, 10 Nm; self-locking, replace

2 - Seal; replace

3 - Electrical connector
