Crankshaft Gear/Sprocket: Service and Repair
Chain sprocket, removing and installing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
^ Press tube 30 - 100
^ Thrust piece 40 - 105
^ Two-arm puller, commercially available
^ Protective gloves
Removing
- Remove oil pan with oil pump.
- Remove front sealing flange.
- Pull off crankshaft chain sprocket with claw puller - 2 - e.g. Kukko 44-1, while protecting end of crankshaft with Thrust Piece 40-105.
Installing
Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:
CAUTION! Wear protective gloves!
- Heat up chain sprocket in an oven for approx. 15 minutes at 220°C.
Note: Installed location: Wider shoulder of chain sprocket faces toward engine.
- Using pliers, install chain sprocket on crankshaft end and slide onto crankshaft to stop using press tube 30 - 100 -.
- Install oil pan with oil pump.
