Air Distribution Housing Overview

To illustrate air guide in the air distribution housing, it is shown in the form of sectional views A - A and B - B.

On the heater, the various doors for air distribution are moved together via a flexible shaft and various levers and two curved washers.

Both left and right temperature doors are moved together at heater (separate adjustment for driver and front passenger not possible).

9 - Auxiliary Air Heater Heating Element (Z35) (with Auxiliary Air Heater Control Module (J604) )

The electric auxiliary air heater is available in different versions. On vehicles equipped with a diesel engine built through November 2006 (running change) the control of the auxiliary air heater heating element via the auxiliary air heater control module. Refer to Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS5051B) in "Guided Fault Finding" function. On vehicles with Diesel engine manufactured later than November 2006 (running change in production), a 3-stage Auxiliary Air Heater Heating Element (Z35) is installed, which is actuated via a relay by the respective Engine Control Module (ECM). Beginning November 2007, a heater air distribution housing with a door in the air outlet to the defroster vents in the instrument panel without a side cut-out is gradually being installed. On vehicles not equipped with A/C (just heating) or on vehicles equipped with a manual climate control system, this change has no impact on the heater control or on the manual A/C system (the door is operated by the heater controls and/or the manual A/C). This door is operated via an actuating arm installed at center central door.

18 - Air Guide Channel To The Air Guide For The Rear Center Console Vents

This channel is currently sealed with a plug.

Introduction of a vent in center console has not yet been finalized.
